(Sanctity of Human Life Education)
"We exist to present and promote the Sanctity of Human Life
(fertilization through natural death)."
Sam has Down syndrome. Glennice is in her eighties. Both of them are smiling. Both of them love life, and both of them are loved.
Yet some people feel that others have no value unless they meet certain arbitrary standards.
GIRL WHOSE PARENTS CHOSE LIFE
|Q. As lovers of life, how can we impact our culture which seems bent on choosing death through abortion and euthanasia?
A. To make a profound difference in life issues, look to children, the next generation of leaders.
Children have an easy understanding of the value God places on little people. Many are familiar with ultrasound, having made the connection between pre-born baby pictures and the babies that later become family members. Many know that "Jesus loves the little children of the world."
Christian children are taught that Jesus loves each and every person . . . period. Yet in this world people who have physical handicaps need advocates. Whether they are blind, deaf, crippled, or mentally retarded, our society is often insensitive to their needs. Currently, ninety percent of pre-born babies suspected of having Down syndrome are aborted. They're not wanted because they're not "perfect."
What about the elderly? Most children have very good reasons to love older people--their grandparents. Having experienced the doting care of grandmothers and grandfathers, even great grandparents, many kids equate old age with extravagant love . . . which they gleefully return.
It's critical that we cement truths children already embrace as a cornerstone for their worldview. Want to learn how?
